Holland and Grants Lane Bridges

Project Type:
Design, Construction, Temporary Works

Crouch Waterfall provided design services and site support for two three span highway bridges in Hurst Green, Surrey. Each bridge comprised three concrete encased steel I beam filler deck sections with longitudinal in-situ stitch joints. The new superstructure is supported on new precast reinforced concrete cill beams fixed to the existing brick abutments and intermediate piers. The bridge has been designed with type H4a containment parapets and N2 vehicle restraint systems on each approach.

The design was such that the installation was undertaken in a single 72 hour rail possession over a long weekend in November 2015.

To enable the project to be undertaken Crouch Waterfall also produced design services for the temporary works, including crash decks and rail protection during demolition, a temporary scaffold footbridge for use during the construction works and crane outrigger pads.
