Borough Green & Wrotham Station

Client:
Osborne Rail

Project Type:
Bridge Replacement

Following an inspection in 2000 the original station footbridge was found to be in poor condition and was recommended for replacement in 2-3 years.

Osborne Rail together with Crouch Waterfall was commissioned by Network Rail to design the replacement footbridge.  The new footbridge incorporates the modern DDA requirements for stairs, handrails, colours and tactile surfacing, whilst maintaining clearances and is futureproofed to allow the installation of lift shafts at a later date.

The structure comprises a 12m span ‘Pratt’ truss founded on reinforced concrete pad foundations. Alterations were also made to platform drainage and lighting to improve access and safety for passengers using the station and footbridge.
