Scorrier Mine Capping Complete
Crouch Waterfall are proud to have completed mine capping works at Scorrier, Cornwall.
We were tasked with producing a cost effective and stable solution to a combination of geo-hazards arising from historic mine workings. The design created by Crouch Waterfall used a combination of new and innovative techniques to create a truly unique and bespoke solution to the problem. Our approach has lead to significant reductions in the cost of GI, a very short construction and installation period, and cost savings over more traditional solutions.
Site works were undertaken by Balfour Beatty Rail during a 5 day blockade, and were completed 8hrs ahead of schedule. Polymer grout injection by On Site was undertaken over a period of 3-4wks during night possessions in advance of the main works. Ground investigation was undertaken using Ground Stiffness Surveys and dynamic probing by Geotechnical Ltd. The project was a huge success for all concerned!
