Airport Demolitions

With the demolition of the Old Control Tower at Heathrow Airport now virtually complete Crouch Waterfall is currently providing structural advice to Hughes & Salvidge regarding the demolition of a hangar at Gatwick Airport.

The hangar is a large open structure with precast concrete trusses forming the roof structure.  The hangar was constructed in the 1950’s and is of complex roof geometry.

Crouch Waterfall is advising on the optimum demolition sequence in order to induce collapse hinges in the trusses to then allow them to be safely lowered to the demolition crash protection mat under.
