1920’s footbridge at Helsby Station

Helsby Station features a two-span footbridge which was constricted circa 1920. Crouch Waterfall undertook an assessment in 2014 and outlined several recommendations to remediate the structure and bring it back to its former glory. Prior to the permanent works which the Warrington team are currently in the process of submitting to Network Rail, we designed a temporary solution of installing an FRP deck and extending the parapets in order to alleviate the corroded deck of pedestrian loading. The outcome of the works is as seamless as it is innovative.
