Crouch Waterfall initially carried out the feasibility study for the Diocese of Brentwood for the costing of the design and build two storey half moon shaped timber framed structure. Employed by the contractor under Turnkey contract Crouch Waterfall then undertook the development and design of the final structure. The timber roof and floor cassettes were designed to bear onto closed timber stud panels and glued laminated beams whilst the ground floor cassettes were supported on concrete pile caps over bored, cast insitu concrete piles.
The project with a construction value of £4m utilised approximately £1m of timber.
Other sustainable construction techniques included ground source heat pumps and sustainable urban drainage.
